South Llano River State Park

South Llano River State Park, run by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, has four bird blinds: Juniper, Agarita, Acorn and Lora's. An outside firm did an accessibility review for the department, inspecting the park in July 2022. Here's what it found at the blinds, in plain words.
Juniper and Agarita blinds: some access
- The viewing areas inside both blinds met the access standards.
- The ramps up to both blinds were steeper than the standard allows.
- The parking area for the Agarita trail and blind had no accessible parking spaces at the time.
Acorn and Lora's blinds: hard access
- The review found no accessible route to either blind. The way to Lora's blind is loose rock and dirt.
- At Lora's blind, none of the parking was accessible at the time.
This review is a few years old, and some of these problems may have been fixed since. Check with the park about the ramps and parking today. Contact details are on the official park page.
Conditions change. Paths close, ramps get fixed, feeders come and go. Call the park before you go and ask about the features you need.
